How Nevada's Teen Driver Process Works

All Nevada teens under 18-years old but at least 15 ½ – years old must complete the following steps in order to get a driver's license.

  1. Take a DMV-Approved Nevada Driving Course
    Aspiring drivers must take a 30-hour driver education course covering safe and defensive driving techniques, traffic laws and violations, sharing the road, and judging hazards and managing risks. The good news is you can take it online!
  2. Pass the Permit Test
    This may sound scary, but don't worry. Our course comes with practice quizzes and final test designed to help you pass the real thing. The state permit exam will be 50 multiple-choice questions.
  3. Complete Your Behind-the-Wheel Training
    No matter what course you take, you've got to get behind the wheel to in order to drive! Nevada requires all teens to complete at least 50-hours behind the wheel with a passenger who is 21-years or older.
  4. Get Your Nevada Driver's License!
    Once you've held your learner's permit for at least 6 months and are at least 16-years old, you're ready to take your driving exam and get your driver's license!
